I managed to get in a good chunk of work today before I even got around to the WOD.
Just to set the scene I work just under 3k's from home. Work's uphill, home's downhill. So yesterday when I was sitting in my garage after doing my WOD I noticed my weight vest, and that was when I had My Genius Idea (MGI). Today I put My Genius Idea (MGI) into action.
During my lunch break I enjoyed a nice easy downhill run home. Once there I changed a nappy (yes my life is a glamorous one, I have a 7 month old baby) gave my lovely wife a hug, picked up my 20lb weight vest and started the miserable run back uphill to work. And it was miserable, miserable but awesome! What a hard way to run a hill! I was dying by the end of it!
By the time I'd gotten home after work, feed the kids, put them to bed and caught up with my wife, my legs were still pretty grumpy with me for the beating that I'd put them through running up that hill with an extra 20lb's. Still no pain no gain ...
So before tonights WOD I did a slightly different warmup than ususal of 3 rounds of:
12 Pullups
12 Bar dips
15 situps
15 squats
Tonights WOD was 3 rounds for time of:
50 21kg Sumo Deadlift High Pulls
20 24 inch box jumps
20 superman
10 92kg Deadlift's
Total time for me for all three rounds was 16.54
Daily WOD
From marathoner to Ironman to Ultrarunner to real fitness! Just how hard can you push?

So what's this all about then?
For those of you who have seen my other (sadly neglected) blog and indeed for a lot of the people that I know through work and socially I'm generally known as "that mad bugger who ran 100k's". So what's this new blog about? And what the heck is a WOD?
To cut a long story short, as I have a tendency to make a long story longer if I'm not careful, I've spent most of this year transforming myself from the "ultra endurance guy" (a self given title that never really caught on, much to my disappointment ...) to something resembling more all round fitness. And that, essentially is what this blog is about - my efforts in achieving a high level of functional fitness.
Key to these efforts is the WOD or Workout of the Day. These are a set of ever changing high intensity workouts designed to build functional fitness. As the blog goes on I intend to detail these WOD's plus the other things I do to supplement them. In addition there will be the odd rambling monologue detailing the reasons why I'm doing what I'm doing, what I hope to gain and the science behind it.
